AURORA
LADIES' AUXILIARY ANNUAL REPORT 2007
February
1, 2008
Dear Sisters and
Brothers in Christ,
I
have been privileged
to serve once again this past year as President of the Ladies' Auxiliary.
2007 was a busy year for us all, but
I
am happy to report
was a successful one for AURORA. Our achievements are numerous, and my
praise is directed to the group of active members of AURORA, all dedicated
women who make commitments to help and follow through. We are all in their
debt, and since we are a small parish, we all know who they are. The
coffee hours have been very well-received, and many members have made
special efforts to provide us with delicious treats to consume while we
visit with each other after Divine Liturgy.
AURORA has continued
its close connection with the Council. We have worked together in harmony
to provide an atmosphere of courtesy and cooperation on all projects and
events.
I
am very happy to
report this as it helps all of us in the Parish.
Among the list of
major contributions by AURORA this past year,
I
would highlight the
preparations for Pascha, the Picnic, and the Festival (with all the baking
and ethnic food preparation by our dedicated groups). Each of these events
has highlighted the very talented group of individuals with whom our
organization has been blessed. Many individuals have stepped forward to
take on very demanding tasks. But, overall, there has been a mood of
cooperation and a spirit of dedication to getting the job done well. That
has made all the difference.
I
must also point out
that many of the events brought very favorable comments from visitors
about the appearance of our Church, the Hall, and the grounds. We have
continued to receive positive comments on the general appearance of the
Hall and the Church. Perhaps this year we may finally undertake the
completion of the Troitza project? We will see.
The coming year
will
be consumed
with the proposed kitchen renovation. A few key members are leading this
effort, and much of what we are able to do will depend on how much money
and support we can gather. There are many things that need improving in
the kitchen area, and if any members are interested in this project,
please see me to find out where your assistance will be most needed.
AURORA continues to enjoy the support of
Father Theophan. He and Mama have worked tirelessly along with the ladies
to make all these occasions successful. We are very fortunate to have a
good relationship with him, and blessed to have Mama here with us. They
both have given so much time to making and keeping St. Thomas so
beautiful. Their willingness to help and to participate is something we
should all be very grateful for.
2008 will hold many
challenges.
I
close my remarks
again by encouraging all the women of the Parish to participate in AURORA.
You have no idea the fun you are missing by not working at some of our
events! Many friendships and close relations have grown from these
opportunities. And, after all, isn't that what our Church family is for?
Yours in the love of
Christ,
Gina
Popovici,
"AURORA" Ladies'
Auxiliary President
